Whether you preferred "Night Fever" to "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" or the other way round, chances are you were listening to the tunes of the time through a Panasonic or Roberts that looked like LEGO Icons Retro Radio 10334. By the 1970s radios had progressed a long way from their much-disputed invention in 1893 by Nikolai Tesla or 1896 by Guglielmo Marconi, depending on whom you wish to credit!
Radios were made in metal, wood, or Bakelite prior to the invention of plastic and were extremely popular in the 1970s due to the growing popularity of rock n' roll music. The transistor radio was the most popular electronic communication device in the 1960s and 1970s.

Imagine being able to take your radio out with you when you're roller skating with your friends. People must have been filled with a sense of awe at this invention. LEGO has enabled us to recreate a piece of musical history with the 906-piece LEGO Retro Radio 10334. This set captures the aesthetics of a radio from the 1970s when the front was the speaker, and the tuning dials were up and out of the way.

A nice touch is this set includes a sound brick that is activated when you turn the dials and then the static sounds of analogue signals can be heard with the odd snippet of music. It really does invoke memories of trying to find the station, twiddling dials and angling the aerial. There is a sliding frequency switch so that you can pick AM or FM as your preference and the aerial can be extended and then folded down.
At the rear section of the LEGO Retro Radio is an area for storing your mobile device, so you can play that funky music and look cool too as you use the handle to carry the LEGO Retro Radio around.

This vintage LEGO Retro Radio is on general release from 4th June 2024, however LEGO Insiders can enjoy early access to the set from 1st June 2024.
The LEGO Retro Radio will cost $99.99 - see it at LEGO online.
The 10334 retro model has 906 pieces in total.
There are no LEGO Minifigures included with LEGO 10334 Retro Radio (but a minifigure on roller skates with the set would have been neat).
