Disney 100th Anniversary Celebrations Begin 27th January

Disney's 100^th anniversary is fast approaching, with celebrations set to commence on 27^th January, lasting throughout most of the year.

Walt Disney is a global media conglomerate spanning multiple studios, franchises, brands and divisions, including Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm (Star Wars) and multiple TV networks and stations.

To honour Disney's incredible 100 years contribution to cartoons, films, theme parks, toys, LEGO and merchandise, the anniversary will be commemorated with special events taking place at Disneyland Resort and beyond as part of the "Disney 100 Years of Wonder".

Disney100 "“ Disneyland Resort Transformed

If you're planning on taking a trip to Disneyland Resort on or after 27^th January, you'll see plenty of platinum-infused décor on show, including sparkling new looks for all your favourite costumed characters at the Happiest Place on Earth.

The iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle will also be dressed in platinum banners and bunting. From the tower, a new wishing star will be installed to sprinkle magic from above. Expect to see plenty of other references dotted around the park, with celebrations centring on the fairytale castle.

There will also be special limited-time food and beverage options, exclusive merchandise, and clothing. According to the Disneyland website, these include the "Platinum Mickey Sipper" and the "Platinum Mickey Balloon Popcorn Bucket" "“ yum!

Disney100 "“ Lightshows and Nighttime Spectaculars

Visitors to Disney California Adventure will be treated to "World of Colour "“ One", honouring Walt Disney's storytelling legacy through symbolic expressions and singular actions that create a ripple of change, creativity and growth.

The show promises to bring "some of the most courageous, loving and inspiring characters to life in new ways", including a new original feature song and ground-breaking visual effects.

Disneyland Park California will also feature "Wondrous Journeys", an evening show referencing every single Walt Disney Animation Studios film. The exciting journey will be filled with music, artistry and magic, accomplished through state-of-the-art projection effects and good old-fashioned fireworks.

Disney100 "“ New 2023 Ride, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway

The resort will also be launching a new ride on 27^th January!

Featuring everyone's favourite cartoon mice "“ alongside pals Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto "“ the ride will hurl guests through a whimsical universe as they ride on Engineer Goofy's train.

The Disney website says, "A relaxing train ride suddenly turns into a zany, free-ranging romp through ever-changing and rearranging cartoon scenes. You'll quickly learn anything can happen in this out-of-control animated world."

It's always thrilling to see a new theme amusement ride pop up at the resort, so hopefully this one will make its way to other parks worldwide.

Disney100 "“ New LEGO Disney Releases For 2023
