Five New Super Mario LEGO Sets Revealed

LEGO continues to commit itself to the Super Mario brand, with five new expansion sets due for release in January 2024.

The Nintendo LEGO Super Mario theme brings the side-scrolling world of one of the world's most famous video game characters to life in brick form, with interactive sets that mimic the 2D gaming levels. Unlike other LEGO minifigures, the special large Mario figure included with the range uses an LED display to react to level elements. Full Bluetooth interactivity is also included with the LEGO Super Mario app, making them especially fun for KFOLs and younger builders to collect coins and "˜play'.

Penguin Family Snow Adventure

This fun-packed level includes three Super Mario characters "“ a penguin, a baby penguin, and a grumpy Goomba figure wearing a winter hat. The ice and snow terrain gives the set a fun wintery feel, and the ice slide cleverly converts into a skating rink. The model also comes with two fish and a handy wooden sledge to assist Mario in defeating the Goomba and reuniting the baby penguin with its parent.

Nabbit at Toad's Shop

Stop off at Toad's shop with this expansion set. The cute yellow Toad and Nabbit are included as characters, and the eye-catching mushroom-style shop consists of a chimney, sign, and stall selling useful goods.

 

Bowser's Muscle Car

This is one of the most striking new models, worthy of displaying on its own merit for any Mario Nintendo buildable model fan. The indomitable Bowser rides in a purple monster car with spiked wheels, a mouth-like grill, and headlight eyes. Placing an interactive figure (in this case, Bowser) inside the car and using the app will trigger sounds, including a beeping horn, running engine and squealing tyres.

Yoshis' Egg-cellent Forest

The lovable Yoshi returns in this expansion set, which features Pink Yoshi and Yellow Yoshi toy figures set in a green woodland scene. Kids can help Yoshi collect apples from the tree and place them inside a collection box before looking after the green-dotted egg.

Dorrie's Sunken Shipwreck Adventure

The largest of the new sets, this underwater shipwreck acts as an underwater Mario level, complete with sea creatures, weeds, treasures, and a hidden key block. Characters include Dorrie, a Cheep Cheep, Cheep Chomp and Blooper. The Cheep Chomp can also "˜munch' on an interactive figure in its mouth, adding a humorous interactive element to the set.
