One of NASA's Artemis missions aims is to "land the first woman and person of colour on the Moon".

Artemis 1 launched in late 2022 and the uncrewed flight orbited and flew beyond the Moon. Artemis 2 is scheduled to launch no earlier than September 2025 and will take a four-person crew further than humans have been in space. After being launched, the crew will fly the Orion module 8,889km beyond the Moon, complete a lunar flyby and return to Earth.
