New LEGO Technic Release - 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 Professional Line

LEGO has announced the release of the 42177 Technic Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line and we take a closer look at what's on offer.

First produced in 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is celebrating its 45th birthday this year. Popular worldwide and with many celebrities, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kevin Hart, proud to be seen behind the wheel, this outstanding off-road vehicle is just going from strength to strength.

In 2023, the G-Wagen celebrated having produced 500,000 vehicles and a special edition was created to pay homage to the vintage G-Wagen that started it all. This was based on the 1986 280GE and used agave green exterior paint, one of the first available paint colours for the G-Class.

The LEGO Mercedes-Benz G 500 Professional Line has a working steering wheel and raised suspension. The hood can be opened to expose the realistic 6-cylinder in-line piston engine. The working gearbox features drive, neutral and reverse. It features two differential locks (the real Mercedes-Benz G 500 has three). These give the driver more traction as you have control of all four wheels, which is a must-have for off-road vehicles. No more getting stuck in awkward places!

The doors open to reveal a detailed interior, but unfortunately, there are no temperature-controlled cup holders! Like its real-life counterpart, LEGO 42177 has a spare tyre on the rear door, a ladder, and a roof rack. The roof rack can be used to erect a tent, turning the G wagon into a camper van.

This will look great in a display with LEGO 10317 Land Rover Classic Defender 90 and LEGO 42110 Technic Land Rover Defender.
