The latest addition to the ever-growing LEGO Art gallery has been unveiled with a release date of March 1st 2026 for LEGO Insiders, and March 4th for everyone else.

LEGO Art Claude Monet - Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies (31220) contains over 3,000 pieces and measures more than 50 x 40cm, making a vibrant LEGO wall display even from a distance.

Here's the specifications of this scenic set, which pays homage to the master of impressionism whose influence on art can still be seen today.

Monet painted Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies in 1899, capturing the scene from his own garden in Giverny, France. Today it can be seen in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA.

LEGO Art 31220 is the perfect reinterpretation of the original, bringing the spirit of impressionism to brick-built art. Monet set out to represent the true feelings of nature, and LEGO have attempted to do the same, with a build that contains nature-inspired LEGO elements such as fruit, flowers and butterflies.

As you assemble these onto the impressively sized 'canvas', you'll start to see the water lilies, the green of the trees, and the subtly raised railings of the bridge.

From brushstrokes to bricks

LEGO designer Stijn Oom gave some insight into how this set was created - and especially how the delicate brushwork of the artist was transformed into a brick-based build.

"Translating Monet's brushstrokes into LEGO bricks was a key design challenge," he said. "The team meticulously created a tactile 3D surface by layering tiles and plates in both vertical and horizontal directions, mimicking the brushwork and carefully adapting Monet's subtle palette of hues within LEGO's signature colour options."

He added that the original artwork's essential details were preserved, while other elements were "abstracted" to allow them to be reimagined using LEGO bricks - all while keeping Monet's artistic style in mind.

"The build transforms with viewing distance: individual pixels and textures are visible up close, resolving into a peaceful impressionist landscape from afar, mirroring the nature of Monet's later works," he explained.

How to display it
