We all know that glue is the enemy of LEGO Minifigures, but builders face an even greater threat to the vibrant colours of your bedroom LEGO display: dust.
The fine grey powder just builds up over time, leaving expensive LEGO sets looking dull and dirty. And because LEGO is so detailed these days, it's harder than ever to remove dust.
In this guide, we'll share some of our top tips to remove dust from LEGO displays - and why prevention is better than cure.

'Little and often' is the best way to keep surfaces free from dust before it can become sticky or form 'dust bunny' clumps. Yet Dyson found 60% of people don't dust until they can see a visible layer on surfaces.
A quick clean once a week will help to keep dust at bay, but that's easier said than done. Epic builds like LEGO Icons Eiffel Tower (10307) stand five feet tall, with intricate brick-built ironwork.
Even smaller sets can be fiddly to clean week after week, especially if you have them on display on a high shelf or some other hard-to-reach spot.

When you do dust your LEGO sets, be careful not to knock pieces off. This is doubly dangerous if you plan to vacuum after dusting, to pick up any dust that's settled on the floor.
It's often the smaller pieces that are easiest to dislodge from your LEGO display, and those are also the easiest bits to vanish up your hoover's suction pipe.
So if you're dusting by hand, watch out - you don't want to lose even one piece from a treasured or collectible LEGO set.

There are all kinds of ways to clean LEGO, from the obvious to the outright bizarre. LEGO actually offer some guidance on this. The official process is:
Let your bricks dry naturally, out of direct sunlight. Don't use a hairdryer, oven or microwave to dry them - you may fade the colour or even melt the brick!
Other fan favourites include cans of compressed air, cotton buds/swabs, and the old classic of a vacuum cleaner with a pair of tights over the nozzle. We'd love to hear what you use, especially your more weird and wonderful LEGO-cleaning life hacks!

Whichever way you look at it, regular dusting is a tedious task. A Beko survey found it's one of the UK's top five most hated household chores.
That's why we say... don't do it! Our LEGO display cases are a much easier solution. They prevent dust from settling on your proudly displayed LEGO sets, and instead you can just occasionally wipe clean the smooth acrylic case.
Our display cases for LEGO sets also protect against a bunch of other risks:
The premium-grade acrylic provides a barrier against humidity, cooking fumes, and smoke from candles and fireplaces. It even blocks 98% of UV rays, which can reduce the risk of your LEGO bricks fading over time.
You can find out more about our acrylic LEGO display cases in our Frequently Asked Questions.

Protecting LEGO sets against dust makes sense on lots of levels. You spent money to buy them, and time to build them. You deserve to enjoy them at their best.
If you're an avid LEGO collector, display cases help to keep your sets organised, with all of the correct accessories and LEGO Minifigures inside the case. (And we have plenty of LEGO Minifigure display cases and base plates to choose from, too.)
But we've found that most people stop at a few sets, often inspired by their favourite superhero or movie franchise. A couple of custom LEGO display cases can really elevate a small collection, and we often add printed backgrounds to our cases to enhance the aesthetic even further.
Finally, there's the financial value of your collection. As of June 2026, there are eight sets with an RRP of over £500 each.
