Back in November's blog, we announced that LEGO IDEAS had struck a partnership with Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons, the fantasy TTRPG gaming phenomenon which has forged countless campaigns and adventures for bands of strangers, friends and enthusiasts and living out their role-playing adventures with nothing more than a few dice, a pen and paper, and the strength of their imaginations.
The legacy of this unique tabletop game will now be represented in the brick-built world of LEGO for the first time, following the conclusion of a hotly-contested LEGO IDEAS competition to select a grand prize winner to enter official LEGO production.

We've rarely seen a more worthy LEGO IDEAS winner than Dragon's Keep: Journey's End by BoltBuilds, who beat hundreds of entries to secure both the fan and judge's vote to be crowned the Grand Prize victor.
BoltBuild's set includes some of the most epic and adaptable minifigures we have ever seen, representing different D&D character classes such as the Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk and Ranger "“ just look at the size of that axe!

In addition to the minifigures, the set includes a highly well-conceived brick representation of a purple Beholder and Green Dragon. In our books, the dragon alone would be worthy of a LEGO model release!
The terrain is perfect for a D&D campaign, somehow managing to squeeze four different areas into the set: The Witches Tower, The Tavern, The Dungeon, and The Crypt. According to the designer, the set features different routes with changeable doors, so distinct stories can be told each time.

As with all LEGO IDEAS winners, the submission will join other LEGO projects in development, with more updates and news expected in due course. With such fantastic detail in this set, we hope the designers stick to the original as much as possible and do not make too many changes, as often happens with LEGO competition winners.
We'll be among the first queueing up on release day to purchase this first-ever Dungeons and Dragons set. The model promises a unique piece of LEGO history that will (hopefully) be the start of a new theme.
