The new LEGO Marvel S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier (76354) ships from June 1st 2026, nearly a decade since its predecessor, LEGO Marvel The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier (76042) retired.
At first glance, the two ships look pretty similar - so what's the difference? Let's dive into a head-to-head comparison to see what's new in the 2026 LEGO Avengers Helicarrier.

First of all, we'll put the two sets side-by-side for an at-a-glance comparison of the LEGO Marvel Helicarrier 2026 vs 2015.

There's more than meets the eye here, so let's look at a few of the details that aren't so obvious from the two sets' stats:
Both sets come in close to 3,000 pieces. The 2026 LEGO Avengers Helicarrier has slightly more, but the finished build is smaller. Unlike the 2015 LEGO Helicarrier, there's no display stand for the Minifigures, and no Top Trumps style info plaque, just a basic name plate.
The 2026 LEGO Helicarrier is definitely a more mature build, with the details in the assembly rather than in the visuals of the finished set. We miss the vibrant blue engine rotors from the 2015 set, but it is also pretty awesome that you can add flames to one of the engines on the new set.
In 2015 you got micro-scale Quinjets, fighter jets and support vehicles. The new set has one Quinjet which can 'fly' on a posing stick. But remove the runway and the 2026 Helicarrier has interior rooms with easter eggs that reference scenes from 2012's The Avengers (known as Avengers Assemble in the UK).
Each set has plenty to offer. If it comes down to which is most eye-catching, we'd have to give it to the 2015 set. More of those vibrant details are on show, instead of hidden-away easter eggs under the runway. We've always thought the older set looks fantastic in our custom display case for LEGO 76042.

The new LEGO Helicarrier wins on the number of LEGO S.H.I.E.L.D. Minifigures included in the set. The 2026 LEGO Marvel 76354 has six Minifigures, compared with the 2015 set's five. But the old set included 12 Marvel Microfigures to pose on the Helicarrier's deck.

No spoilers, but fans will understand why Natasha Romanoff, AKA Black Widow, has been replaced with Winter Soldier for the post-2019 set. It's also great to see LEGO Minifigure Phil Coulson added to the line-up, since this is a LEGO S.H.I.E.L.D. set and he was, at one time, director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The absence of the 12 LEGO Microfigures - which included Captain America, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Nick Fury and eight uniformed S.H.I.E.L.D. agents - removes some of the dynamics from the new set, which doesn't feel so lived-in.

This is where you have to look beyond the first glance. Based solely on RRP at the time of launch, the 2026 LEGO Avengers Helicarrier costs $50 more. But 11 years have passed since the 2015 set was first released.
Allowing for inflation, the older set would now cost about $475, a hefty $75 more than the new LEGO Helicarrier. With interiors, an extra LEGO Marvel Minifigure and a higher piece count, it's hard to deny that the newer set offers the better value.
If price is an issue, it's worth looking out for LEGO Marvel The Avengers Helicarrier (76295), a less detailed 509-piece set priced at $79.99. The build was a bit smaller at 18 x 22 x 33cm, making it a good fit for a typical bookcase shelf. LEGO 76295 retired in late 2025, but it's still quite easy to find and our made-to-measure display case for LEGO 76295 is available now.

There's plenty to like about the new LEGO S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier set - we just don't think it's quite as visually striking as the 2015 version.
But it does have its selling points:
If you're a Marvel Avengers fan, or especially a fan of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the 2026 Helicarrier could be the perfect centrepiece for your LEGO bedroom display.
