We're starting to think the new year might be a lucky one. It ends with a lucky 7, there should be some awesome LEGO Star Wars 50th Anniversary sets, but before any of that it kicks off with an impressive EIGHT new 2027 LEGO Super Mario sets.

The luckiest part is, the new sets include the first LEGO Super Mario Minifigures - and we LOVE them! Here's our guide to the new LEGO Super Mario sets for January 2027 and the characters included with each.

Here are the full specs of the 2027 LEGO Super Mario sets so far, along with our thoughts on any stand-out features of the January 2027 LEGO Mario releases.

LEGO Super Mario Fire Mario & Bowser's Castle (72060)

The flagship set is the 850-piece LEGO Super Mario Fire Mario & Bowser's Castle (72060) with its impressive battlements, iconic green pipes, and a cast of five characters:

• Fire Mario Minifigure
• Peach Minifigure
• Koopa Troopa Minifigure
• Bowser Figure
• Goomba Figure

We're counting Goomba here - it's a very small figure but it's still a character, and it's a common feature of several of the January 2027 LEGO Super Mario sets.

Back to this build and it's pretty big and detailed for an 8+ age range. Once it's completed, stand Bowser, Goomba and Koopa Troopa in defensive positions and trigger the hidden traps and lava balls to repel the invading Fire Mario.

Of course, that's no match for the plucky plumber, who might be lucky enough to collect a treasure chest full of coins on his way to rescue Peach. We like the child-friendly design of this set, which will make an excellent LEGO Super Mario display from a distance.

Just one more exciting thing to note... we're very happy to say that Bowser's Castle includes a restroom complete with brick-built toilet and wall-mounted toilet paper! The biggest of three new LEGO Mario Kart sets for January 2027 is LEGO Super Mario Mario Kart: Bowser's Rumbling Race (72058) which is giving us Mad Max vibes. Four characters head out on the highway in some very different vehicles:

Each kart can launch shells and fireballs, and there's a ton of Mario Kart LEGO elements including cones, a winner's coin, a banana, and a blue Question Mark Box with a microscale Fire Flower peeping out.

A unique feature of the new LEGO Mario sets for 2027 is the 4+ age range on some of the sets. LEGO Super Mario Yoshi at Mario's House (72057) is the first of these on our list, and it lets builders of all ages spend a day at Mario's House.

There are two LEGO Super Mario Minifigures with this set, plus that miniature Goomba figure once again:

This is a classic kids' imaginative play house, with a decorated kitchen interior, plus a bedroom that can tip Mario straight out of bed and down the slide! Simple steps make it suitable for some of the youngest builders, and all the interactive moving features should give them super satisfaction for their efforts.

We especially love that you can remove Yoshi's shell so that Mario (or any standard LEGO Minifigure) can ride on his back - another example of the attention to detail and the attention to FUN that has been put into these sets.

We chose LEGO Super Mario Mario Kart - Mario & Standard Kart (72037) as one of our favorite 2025 LEGO sets (and it looks fantastic in our Mario Kart - Mario & Standard Kart Display Case), so it's great to see a child-friendly version in the form of 2027's LEGO Super Mario Mario Kart: Racing with Mario (72054).

Just the one character with this one:

There's plenty of fun to be had though, with a coin to collect, traffic cone and banana obstacles, plus red and green shells that Mario can launch from his kart.

We're in love with this stunning little set, which is well worth its $9.99 price tag. LEGO Super Mario Mario's Pipe Jump (72052) recreates the iconic green pipe that starts many a Super Mario adventure.

Two characters come with this set, including the cheapest way to get your hands on a LEGO Minifigure Super Mario himself:

It's a surprisingly interactive set for the price, with a feature to catapult Goomba out of the way, and another to shoot Mario out of the pipe as he tries to collect an overhead coin.
