First of all, this mini-build is an amazing companion to both LEGO Art Mona Lisa (31213) and LEGO Icons Leonardo da Vinci's Flying Machine (10363), both of which make an appearance in the finished scene.

With just over 250 pieces, including a very cute LEGO Minifigure Leonardo da Vinci, there's decent mileage in the build too. It's not clear why this is aimed at builders aged 18+ as the amount of detail packed into the polymath's studio means there's plenty of playability.

As a LEGO display set, it's got everything you need: a simple but attractive stone wall background, a mosaic floor, references to da Vinci's various expertise, and a name plate front and centre.

Easter eggs aplenty

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was a true polymath, with interests spanning art, architecture, anatomy, engineering and science. He would probably have loved LEGO for its creativity, use of colour, and for the innovative techniques used in LEGO Technic and similar sets.

He even argued in favour of building interior walls using bricks instead of wood, as a way to protect against fire - a true LEGO builder at heart!

LEGO 40902 has nods to many of his passions, including art supplies, a miniature Mona Lisa on an easel, an 'ornithopter' flying machine in flight, and a cat. (He was famously obsessed with the cats that visited his studio, and is often reported to have said that "the smallest feline is a masterpiece".)

There's even a writing desk with a shiny mirror, a reference to da Vinci's left-handedness, and his habit of writing in reverse to avoid smudging his work.

How to get it

LEGO Tribute to da Vinci GWP (40902) is available for one week only. The offer started on Friday, June 19th and runs until Sunday, June 28th 2026 - and as always, it's only while stocks last.

To get this adorable LEGO display set, you'll need to spend over $150 online at the LEGO Shop, in-store in LEGO Stores or via LEGO Catalogue telephone orders.

There's a limit of one set per household, and if you return part of your order and drop below the minimum spend later, you'll have to return the LEGO da Vinci GWP too.

Good news for LEGO Insiders: There's also a double points offer running this week! That means if you place an order before Monday June 29th 2026, you'll earn twice as many LEGO Insiders points as usual. (For a $150 order, that's 2,160 instead of 1,080.)

The 'ornithopter' flying machine gives you a few options here. You can attach it directly to the Leonardo da Vinci LEGO Minifigure for him to take to the skies. ("I am... Renaissance Man!") You can display it loosely as an accessory in his studio. Or you can perch it above the walls of the set on a transparent 'flying' strut.

It's a good idea to give yourself some extra headroom for that last option, since it's going to take your finished build beyond the official 7cm in height.

We love this fan favourite from January 2025, which comes with a different LEGO Minifigure Leonardo da Vinci, this time holding a quill and sketch instead of a paintbrush and palette. With just under 500 pieces, it's the middle-ground of the Leonardo da Vinci LEGO sets, but it looks gorgeous on the shelf.
